From 19 to 21 May 2017, we will be welcoming over 130 young stonemasons and stone carvers from all over the world to Kiskunfélegháza where they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and creativity to a wide audience.
Since the festival took place for the first time in the late nineties in Freiburg, it has grown in popularity and been hosted by many different European countries. The festival is taking place in Hungary for the second time since 2004
The Kossuth Lajos Street in Kiskunfélegháza provides the perfect setting for the event. The festival is organised by the National Association for Stonemasons and Artificial Stone Producers – Hungary and the city of Kiskunfélegháza.
The theme for the festival in 2017
The theme for the festival in 2017 is Secession and Life in the Puszta and is open to wide interpretation.Apprentices, qualified stonemasons, stone carvers and master masons are required to prepare sketches of their design to give the visitors a better insight into how a workpiece is realised. The material provided will be sandstone with each block measuring 30 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm.
What is on offer for our visitors to the festival?
Besides offering the chance to look over the shoulder of participants at work, a wide variety of art and stone will be presented including demonstrations, exhibitions, hands-on activities and a varied supporting programme. There are, of course, supervised activities for the children. -
